Keith W. Carlson is a founding partner of Carlson & Jayakumar, LLP, where his practice is concentrated on employment law, healthcare law, and related litigation. Mr. Carlson specializes in providing counsel to clients with general employment issues for both professional and general corporations and large businesses, as well as employment and corporate issues specifically affecting the healthcare industry. This makes his firm the perfect fit for academic medical centers, health systems, hospitals, and healthcare providers of all sizes. His experience covers both state and federal courts and involves matters such as trade secrets, unfair competition, wage-and-hour claims, sexual harassment, race discrimination, disability discrimination, wrongful termination, business litigation, representation before licensing agencies, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and insurance audits. Time and again, his customized legal strategies save clients from the negative publicity of trial, as well as from millions of dollars in threatened liability.
In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Carlson regularly advises clients on contractual matters affecting physician compensation, specifically with respect to compliance with federal and sate fraud-and-abuse laws. His combined legal acumen and engaging disposition make him a favored guest lecturer for healthcare institutions, professional associations and universities, covering a diverse range of current healthcare law, employment law, and political issues.
Mr. Carlson is also deeply involved in his community, Co-Founding and Chairing the Board of Trustees for Pacifica Christian High School, Orange County, and serving on the Board of the Claremont Institute. He is a member of both the Orange County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment, and Healthcare Sections, the National Association of Chiropractic Attorneys, and the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys.
He previously served on the boards of Chapman and Whittier Law Schools, the Irvine Valley College Foundation, and the Santa Ana Unified School District’s Bond Oversight Committee.
