George O. Kolombatovich

Senior Counsel George O. Kolombatovich brings nearly three decades of legal experience spanning litigation, legislative law, public policy, and government service. He advises on matters involving health insurance coverage, regulatory compliance, Medi-Cal managed care plans, and Medicare Advantage plans to ensure that healthcare providers have the resources they need to serve their communities. His current clients include leading academic medical centers, prominent children’s hospitals, major medical institutions, and healthcare professionals. He also provides general counsel services to elected officials, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

Prior to joining Carlson & Jayakumar, Mr. Kolombatovich worked with clients to improve emergency medical services, comply with campaign finance and government ethics laws, negotiate contracts within sensitive regulatory frameworks, expand access to healthcare for people who are medically underserved, and navigate complex public–private partnerships. His diverse client portfolio has included local environmental protection agencies, philanthropic foundations, ballot measure committees, multinational corporations, and political campaigns.

Mr. Kolombatovich served as Special Counsel and Senior Advisor to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, and he chaired the Los Angeles Claims Board. Depending on the initiative, Mr. Kolombatovich’s guidance and leadership resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in budgetary savings or generated billions of dollars to fund programs that have positively impacted communities throughout California.

Motivated by a deep commitment to public service and healthcare advocacy, Mr. Kolombatovich distinguishes his practice with an empathy-centered approach, seeking to understand all perspectives to achieve the best outcomes for his clients. Mr. Kolombatovich earned his J.D. from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He received the Leonard A. Pullman Memorial Prize for Outstanding Scholarship and Significant Service as an undergraduate at Columbia, where he earned his A.B. in Political Science and Middle Eastern/South Asian Studies.

He is based out of San Francisco. Outside of his practice, he enjoys the opera and ballet, running along the cliffs overlooking the Golden Gate, and practicing yoga.
